gendarmerie The Gendarmerie is integrated with the Army
and its missions sometime overlap those of the Army, causing
conflict. For example both forces are responsible for security in
the capital, Bujumbura. 4-5,000 troops Burundi forces are organized in brigades, but
the identification problem is complicated by the designation of
Gendarme regional units as Brigades. These brigades are named
according to the region’s HQ; brigades in DRC carried numbers.
