gendarmerie  

The Gendarmerie is integrated with the Army and its missions sometime overlap those of the Army, causing conflict. For example both forces are responsible for security in the capital, Bujumbura.

Burundi forces are organized in brigades, but the identification problem is complicated by the designation of Gendarme regional units as Brigades. These brigades are named according to the region’s HQ; brigades in DRC carried numbers.
