Belgium
Organization
Originally Belgium
abolished division and brigade HQs, planning two deployable HQs
without assigned units. Meanwhile units were to be deployed in a
forces command. Two deployable HQ (brigade level) exist.
Deployable HQ
-HQ South (Marche en Famenne)
-HQ North (Leopoldsburg)
This
idea did not work and two brigades were reestablished. Another
“innovation” has remained: the Army eliminated all tracked
vehicles, and adopt, in effect, a US Stryker battlegroup type
configuration using the MOWAG. Because Belgium has two official languages,
French and Dutch, unit designations are in one language or the
other.
