US Army Active Nike Hercules SAM Battalions in the Continental United States, 1967-68

The following is a list of the active Nike Hercules units in CONUS in the period 1967-68. Many of the Nike units were deactivated prior to this, so this a snapshot after their peak in the early 1960s. The information is taken from Shelby Stanton's ORDER OF BATTLE-VIETNAM. The list also includes some National Guard units active at the time and providing ADA defense alongside their active counterparts. Information on them came from various websites and the Center for Military History.

The cities listed were usually the location of the battalion headquarters, The firing batteries and fire control radars were spread over a large area with zones controlled by each individual battery site sited around the particular location they defended. If an area like a major city had two or more battalions defending it, then these units were controlled by an ADA Group. The Groups were regionally linked to a higher headquarters called the ADA Brigade.The brigade controlled all battalions and groups in a region like the Northeast U.S. The brigade was also the direct link between the group and NORAD.
