Formations under direct command and control of South African National Defense Force Chief of Joint Operations:

5 regional joint task forces (each consists of HQ, troops are provided when necessary by permanent and reserve force units from all services)

BRIGADES

HQ 43^rd Brigade

HQ 44^th Parachute Brigade

            1^st Parachute Regiment

            3^rd Parachute Regiment

HQ 46^th Brigade (<1000)

HQ Special Forces Brigade

4^th SF Regiment (naval unit)

5^th SF Regiment (land unit)

 

1^st Maintenance Unit

1 training school

Permanent units are assigned only to the SF brigade.

12^th South African Infantry, the special battalion, has been disbanded.
