Military Regions

 

The Military Region Island of France (Région Terre Ile de France/RTIDF), with headquarters in Saint-Germain-en-Laye: this RT exerts its functions not only on the administrative area Island-of-France (Paris and the five surrounding departments) but also on the whole of the formations of the Army stationed in the departments and overseas territories (DOM-TOM) like in the foreign countries:

 

The Military Region Northeast (Région Terre Nord-Est / RTNE) headquartered in Metz: it corresponds to the administrative regions Alsace, Bourgogne, Champagne- Ardenne, Franche-Comté, Lorraine, Nord-Pas-de-Calais et Picardie:

 

The Military Region Southeast (Région Sud-Est / RTSE) headquartered in Lyon: it corresponds to the administrative regions of Auvergne, Corse (Corsican), Languedoc-Rousillon, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur et Phône-Alpes;

 

The Military Region Southwest (Région Terre Sud-Ouest / RTSO) based in Bordeaux; corresponding to the administrative regions of Aquitaine, Limousin, Midi-Pyrémées et Poitou-Charentes

 

The Military Region Northwest (Région Terre Nord-Quest / RTNO) based in Rennes: it corresponds to the administrative regions Bretagne, Centre-Val-de-Loire, Basse et Houte-Normandie et Pays de la Loire

 

 

Special Forces Brigade - Pau (Controlled by CEMA, the Army General Staff)

 

13e Régiment de Dragons Parachutistes (13ème RDP) -  Dieuze

1er Régiment Parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine (1er RPIMa) - Bayonne

Détachement ALAT des Opérations Spéciales (DAOS) - Pau

 

           

Combat Land Forces Command

 

(Commandement de la force d’action terrestre - CFAT)  (Lille, Nord-Pas de Calais)

 

Staff Command 1 (EMF) - Besançon, French Comté

Staff Command 2 (EMF) - Nantes, Pays-de-Loire

Staff Command 3 (EMF) - Marseille, Provence

Staff Command 4 (EMF) - Limoges, Limousin

 

EMF 1: 7e Bataillon du Train (7e BT) Transport Battalion

EMF 2: 22e Bataillon d'Infanterie de Marine (22e BIMa)

EMF 3: 72e Bataillon d'Infanterie de Marine (72e BIMa)

EMF 4: 15e Bataillon du Train (15e BT)

 

 

 

The EMFs are forward deployable HQs and are assigned brigades and other forces as required for specific missions.
