With thanks to Mr. Jagan Pillarsetti for a copy of the Official History of the 1965 War. This has not been published to date.  The Times of India put a leaked copy on its website for some time in 2000.

The Rann of Kutch initially came under HQ Gujarat and Maharashtra Area. In April, a separate Kilo Force was created, and on April 17, 1965, it was renamed as Kilo Sector.
